Bell Bounce Emerging from the remnants of the Baltimore warehouse party scene in the mid-to-late-90s, Uncle Jesse is a duo of like-minded dudes that somehow thought naming themselves after a "Full House" character was a good idea. Obviously, these dudes really don't give af*ck. Clearly influenced by a wide variety of genres from Drum N Bass to Tech House to Baltimore Club and Breaks, Uncle Jesse describes themselves as equal parts Richie Hawtin, Scottie B, Bassment Jaxx, and Cajmere. On this release alone, the duo churns out 4 original tracks that sound not-a-thing like the last. The title track "Glen Tech" is a Tech-House-Meets-Bmore adventure that is as understated as it is powerful while "Wizzper" and "Bell Bounce" both illustrate the duo's ability to freak familiar samples into something completely new. The boys even teamed up with Baltimore legend Scottie B for the EP's final original composition "Fantasy's Joint" creating a Filter House anthem that wouldn't sound out of ...

Masta Killa: Digi Warfare / No Said Date 12" Overview

True Wu-fans know deal. In the 21st century, Masta Killa is putting out the best Wu records. This 2003 solo debut signaled his arrival and departure. "Digi Warfare(1)" is a brilliant mix of new school and old school concepts. Firstly, Choco's beat is so new school, so much so, it appeared as an instrumental track on the cult French comp Toxic. On the other side of the art, Killa's flow is a shout to the old school with the DJ callout intro (doubles please) and lengthy breath control verses. B-side features the "No Said Date(2)" produced by RZA in his best Ghost Dog mode. Included instrumentals are crucial here. Recommended.
